The characteristics of the correlation value8 around the mamlm of the amplitude of the correlation fUnction,where most infoation about cu”ent velocity is contained,are primarily analyzed.Localized Let Mean squaures(LLMs)criterionis put forward for velocity estimation. Sequential Quadratic ProgramIlling(sQP)method is adoptedthe optirIlization method.so the systematic sig- nal processing n:Lethod of acoustic correlation techllique8 f.or current velocityleasurement is established. A prototype aucotic correlation current profiler(AcCP)underwent several sea trials,the resIllts show that theoretical rrlodelpr0mately coincides with experimental reults.Current profiles i11cluding the speed and direction from ACCP are compared with those om acoustic Doppler current profller(ADcP).Thec叮rent profiles by bothtrument8agree reonably well.Also,the standard deviation of velocityⅡleaLsurement by ACCP is statistic a_Uy cakulated and it is a httle larger than predicted value.
